My Darling Wife managed to get this really good picture of a badger. I can never get them to turn and face me when I see them. Taken 9/27/2008.( Sarpy Sam)

A fairly rare sight around here. Big, old Snapping turtle. Normally you see them near water but this one was quite a ways away from any. Must be traveling to a new watershed. Taken 06/27/2008.( Sarpy Sam)

Taking shelter from the wind. Even my working right nearby would not spook him out of this shelter. Taken 2/13/2008.( Sarpy Sam)

I sure have been seeing a lot of hawks around lately. Can't complain though since they eat lots of little rodents I don't like. Taken 10/15/2007.( Sarpy Sam)

A little pheasant chick. This one obviously was born wild here instead of planted. You can tell by the size. Taken 7/24/2007.( Sarpy Sam)

I know they might be as little hard to see but there are three young pheasants here in the grass. There is a guy I know that raises a bunch every year and he releases some of them out here. He just released some about a week ago and these are some of them. The natural babies around here aren't this big yet. Taken 7/22/2007.( Sarpy Sam)

Not very often do I get close enough to the pheasants around here to get a picture. They must have been distracted. A rooster and two hens. Any bets on what the distraction was? Taken 5/11/2007. ( Sarpy Sam)

There are a couple of geese around here who appear to be sitting on these rocks, watching the world go by, every time I go past here. I wish I knew what the deal was with them, I have never seen geese hang around this country. Taken 4/25/2007.( Sarpy Sam)

If you look real close you can see some grouse roosting in the tree still. It usually takes them a while to get going on these cold mornings. Taken 1/29/2007.( Sarpy Sam)
